Grinnell Education

I have a B.A. in Mathematics from Grinnell College, a small liberal arts college in Grinnell, IA. Grinnell has no required classes, so I just took whatever I wanted to. I chose to specialize in mathematics, so I took 13 mathematics courses; but I wanted to learn a little bit about as many different subjects as possible, so I took one or two courses in quite a few departments. Here is a list of all the courses I took:

  • Calculus II
  • European History, 1650–Present
  • Literary Analysis
  • Tutorial: Math, Music, and Literature
  • Introduction to Biological Inquiry
  • Introduction to Philosophy
  • Linear Algebra
  • The Craft of Poetry
  • Combinatorics
  • Differential Equations
  • Elementary Greek
  • Introduction to Anthropology
  • Problem Solving Seminar (taken twice)
  • Foundations of Analysis
  • Intermediate Greek
  • Major Asian Religions
  • American History II
  • Foundations of Abstract Algebra
  • Topology
  • Automata, Formal Languages, and Computational Complexity
  • Field Theory
  • Introduction to Political Science
  • Algorithms
  • Beginning Chinese
  • Complex Analysis
  • The Craft of Fiction
  • General Physics II
  • Introduction to Sociology
  • Number Theory
  • Senior Seminar in Mathematics: Frame Theory
